ALL IT TAKES TO BECOME A WRITER/AUTHOR/POET

Well, hey there fella writers/poets/to-be-writers/I-haven't-started-yet writers !! Hope you are doing fine...(Hope..)

Everybody wants to become a writer, right? Of course! (Soon, the world would be dominated by writers!!) But, before becoming a writer, what do you think you require to become a writer? A pen/ laptop and an idea? If you're limited to it then you should forget that a word like 'writer' exists.

(Well, before forgetting that read this article.)

To a writer we need both physical and mental needs. Resources and inspirations too work in a lot of cases. But, basically physical needs and mental needs are far more important, to the extent I've seen. Here, I'll discuss only three of them Physical needs, Mental needs and inspiration.

PHYSICAL NEEDS

These needs include, Notebooks, pens, laptops, designing, covers, illustrations etc...

Well, physical needs are way too much important, I'm sure you cannot cram every single word of a whole novel. I'm sure we can't. Well, if you can drop down in the comments(I can give you a promotion and book cover design of your book for FREE)

There are two ways to write a novel/book. These include, typing directly the final copy or writing traditionally on a notebook and then typing it down on a laptop or a smartphone.

"I know that"

Even these can be split. For traditional way, first way is;

1.) Draft writing 2.) Final writing 3.) Typing and finalizing 4.) Editing 5.) proofreading

Second way include;

1.) Writing the Novel 2.) Typing 3.) Editing and proofreading 4.) Final novel

And as for working directly with Laptop;

first way includes;

1.) Draft writing on a a paper or on computer 2.) Final novel typing 3.) Editing and proofreading 5.) document ready

Second way includes;

1.) Typing the novel directly on a laptop 2.) Editing and proofreading 3.) Novel ready

Well working with laptop directly might seem far more easier and quicker but still I support traditional way. Hey! calm down don't get your blood boiling! It's not I am some old crap who says that technology is 'Holy shit!' no, I'm just sweet 14 year old sharing my advice... So please don't go mad at me.

"What the hell?!"

The reason I prefer using traditional way is it allows you to go through your text various times and this allows several revisions and which in turn helps you to improve you writing. How I write my books is first plot the idea, then I write it on a notebook. If you're a student like me, than I'll give you another advice for finding time to write, write in school, use times of P.E. classes and other substituted classes and think before going to bed and write before going to bed.

I keep on rereading the story in the notebook while I'm still half -done. This helps revising pat points and these past points give ideas on making relations and blah. Then, I type the story on the laptop, still, changing the language and some scenes. Then I Re-read it once just for grammatical mistakes and then, I re-read it once again in case I get some better for a particular scene and then I ask my sister to read it once and she fixes various other things. And then we have one final read together, then we publish it. Easy right? It doesn't take us much time, it takes only about a month or two do this and it proves far more effective.

So let's see what physical needs you require and what would it cost;

Pen Well, this might cost about $8 or more or less

Notebook A notebook would cost you about $5 to $9

Laptop I think you won't get any laptop less than $250

Smartphone Umm, if you buy a smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge) would cost you about $145 on amazon and because I use, so would prefer Samsung Tab S6 lite it would cost about $269.99.

Well, these were all the physical needs now what we should look upon are Mental Needs.

MENTAL NEEDS

Alright, here comes another important part of writing. Your mental needs. Writing requires your brain to work consistently and continuously. It needs you to spend every single moment of your life thinking about your own world but, it requires the skills that allows a person to keep a balance between the two worlds S/he have created. Once this balance is lost a person might either run away from reality else they will keep their distance from the world they've created and it gives less amount of time to a person to think about their story causing it to be less effective and in some cases flop.

It's not bad to think about your worlds and characters for a long time but, thinking of them for waaaayyyy long time may result bad for some people (Yep. Some people). As for me it ain't that bad and I am someone who can balance between these two worlds but, this still makes me wonder what if something like really exists and what if something like this existed. These are still the questions that cannot be answered but, still thinking upon them makes even the writer curious.

Mental needs also require support and if not then, the power to fight back and live on your own terms. If you are someone who is being supported in writing through everyone around you and have a good interest in writing then, you can keep on with your writing carrier as smoothly as possible. And there are people that might even include you, who are suffering for their writing or maybe get remarked as their writing sucks. But, what you need to think is of all of it in a clearly different context. Let me say, for example, if I am a writer and I believe I can do good but, the publishers reject my work or either my friends or family or whatever. During these times the thought that should (MUST) come into your mind is supposed to be "Hey there I'mma remember these incidences and when I get famous I'll tell the world what I've been through. The story of mine is going to sound epic!" That's what you're supposed to think and being honest I think that too along with one of my friend, The_Psychowriter. I will provide you information over her too, her life is truly beautiful for inspirations!

At last, these requires the power to tolerate the taunts, the fun, the joke and the 1 star reviews. Once you learn to control your mental self and know how to deal with the world around you and let go you'll forever be a happy writer (Forever? Possibilities). Once you become a writer who has learnt to tolerate about almost every criticism and is ready to accept the true ones and tries to improve ones own mistakes, success comes running and leans down on your knees.

Alright so what do mental needs cost?

Here's a budget;

Patience cost $0

Tolerance cost $0

Thoughts cost $0

Total $0

Tax $1M (to the owner of this site)

Grand Total $ 1M

INSPIRATION

Well, I can't tell if that's so important but yeah most people 'do' have an inspiration or maybe a bunch of inspirations. Inspirations need not always be writers, they can be writings too. For example, my inspiration includes Goosebumps, the series by R.L. Stine and Enid Blyton and there are a few more I don't remember(My Lappy - "It's because this girl is typing and still listening to song and checking out her social media).

Well, just think if you like the format of a particular book and you tried it too. Or maybe you like the writing style of a particular author and that's what you tried out and it turned out awesome. Maybe your inspiration was a genre. You might be attracted by a specific genre and your interest in the genre may help you build stories on the genre.

For convenience, here are some genres and sub-genres;

  1. Fantasy

  2. Children's

  3. Action and adventure

  4. Romance

  5. Comedy

  6. YA (Young Adult)

  7. Crime

  8. Thrillers

  9. Horror

  10. Poetry

And these genres too have some sub-genres these might include Erotica Romance and Contemporary romance in Romance. Made for children's books may include sub-genres like action and adventure and general.

Hope you have a sweet idea over it.

And For now we can conclude that, being an author costs almost less. And the most important things come for free. These are the things that as an author you should think are granted and are not ,made for everyone. Once you get confident about your work you learn how important to you your writing are. There might be challenges to writing but, once confronted, these challenges seem to make a story new to the world. In a sense;

While writing the stories in your brains you are actually building your own story...
